Community

We believe in giving back to the wonderful community that supports us!
Our team at Artline is a group of caring, energetic people who are always looking for ways to get involved and help make a difference. Paying it forward is something we can all do to contribute to the betterment of one another.
Below are a few causes and projects close to our hearts.
---

Artline Salon is proud to be a certified Greencircle Salon since 2012. Diverting hundreds of pounds of salon produced waste into recycled matter.
All the hair that we cut, the leftover colour in our bowls, the plastics, paper and metals we have from our products gets 100% recycled.
Making Artline Salon committed to being socially responsible!
The greenest in the industry, Greencircle Salons brings together some of the best brands from across the salon and spa industry as a way to offer you and your family, responsible, greener choices when it comes to your personal health and beauty.
GCS is the beauty industry’s pathway to sustainability. They are innovators, pioneering truly sustainable solutions for repurposing, recycling, and capturing 95% of salon and spa waste since 2009.
Their 1500 (and growing) member salons span nearly every state and province in North America.
If you are looking to strike a greener balance and reduce your environmental impact in the pursuit to look and feel good, you have found just right the place.

hair united
HairUnited Hair Show
(Established by Artline Salon)
An event that celebrates fashion, creativity, talent and our hairdressing community.
HairUnited was created for two reasons. First and foremost, to build a sense of community within a group of likeminded, goal focused, creative individuals who all share a love of the hairstyling industry.
Second, and just as important, to support a charity in our community.
In 2010 we supported the Children's Museum, 2012 KidsAbility, 2014 Carizon Family and Community Services, and in 2016 Nutrition for Learning.
This event is organized by Artline Salon owner, Lina Shamoun. “The hair industry is very competitive. I wanted to create an event that unites hairdressers and benefits a local children’s charity,” says Shamoun.
HairUnited is a true representation of inspiration, commitment and talent. Looking forward to another brilliant celebration in the near future!

The Business & Education Partnership of Waterloo Region leads the way in career exploration for youth (Grades 7 -12), connecting students, educators and employers to promote student success and community prosperity.
Lina and the team at Artline have been part of the Business & Education Partnership's speaker's bureau for over 10 years. The team volunteers their time to share their educational journey and contribute realistic expectations regarding their careers with students. It is a fantastic opportunity to bring real life experiences into the classroom and students participate in the sessions with many added props that Artline brings along on their visits.
The passion and enthusiasm demonstrated by Lina and her team overflows and has an everlasting impact on the students' career choices.
"We truly appreciate what Artline Salon brings to our community for our youth!"
Julie Dreisinger, Program Coordinator

Skills Canada
Skills Canada-Ontario is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting careers in the skilled trades and technologies as a viable, first-choice career option to Ontario youth.
Skills promotes these careers through yearly Skills Canada National Competition, as well as through provincial and territorial competitions hosted by our member organizations.
The Skills Ontario Alumni Association celebrates alumni stories and successes, and allows alumni to network and come together.

Through the Association, the accomplishments of Skills Ontario Alumni are showcased and recognized, and alumni have the opportunity to share their expertise and experience with students across Ontario.

Many alumni continue to be involved with and support Skills Ontario, and we are proud of their achievements and important contributions.

Artline Salon has been involved with Skills since 2003 and continue to support in many ways possible. Artline also hosted the 2017 Regional Skills Hairstyling competition and Lina has judged the regional/provincial hairstyling competitions since 2007.

 YWAM
 Youth with a Mission (YWAM)
A school-building project is part of the Canada-based “Youth with a Mission” volunteer movement (http://www.ywamcanada.org/). Every year since 2009, YWAM has organized a trip to Baja California, Mexico, to build a local home or a public space.
In April of 2013, they ventured south in order to construct three school buildings for the community.
Artline hosted a silent auction for the first time for YWAM as a fundraising event and it was a great success!
Artline’s owner, Lina Shamoun, said: “I loved being involved with this project and having the fundraising happen at the salon to help raise money for a mission trip, 45 of us worked together to help build three much-needed schools in the Baja region of Mexico. I’ve always wanted to help others in a way that will have a positive impact on people’s lives in the long-term. This project fulfills that need.”
