Annual Food & Fund Campaign

Give out of love, not obligation. Give to those who need it most.

Hello dear reader, this is part of our story and we thank you for taking the time to learn more about us!

My Name is Lina Shamoun, owner of Artline Salon. I immigrated to Canada from Iraq in August 1998 when I was 14 years old... it feels like yesterday, but 28 years havehas gone by and I can't believe it.

I'm the eldest of 5 children and as you can imagine how challenging it might have been for my parents as new Canadians to navigate our new life here is Canada, and that's when we learned about the community support through the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. When the food was collected and brought home by my parents, I simply thought it was from a local grocery store... it wasn't until I was in my thirties did I learn that we relied on the Food Bank for the first 5 years of our life here.

In 2015, I visited the Waterloo Region Food Bank warehouse in Kitchener and it was then I asked my parents questions about the food we received from there. Today, we are so grateful for all the help and support we had during a time in our lives where we needed it the most.

It's time to give back and keep it going!

Since 2021, the team and I at Artline Salon have committed to an annual Food and Fund-raising campaign that runs from November until January (during the holiday season) and we are so grateful for all the donations we receive from our guests. We couldn't do this without you.

The best part of the holidays are the memories we make and sometimes the simple pleasures of life are what we remember the most.

Since the start of the campaign at Artline Salon, we are grateful to share our collective contribution of (as of 2024)
$2369 in funds
1838 lbs of non-perishable food items
6271 meals created

Artline Salon is committed to this campaign annually and with your support we can make a difference in our beautiful community.

Your donations help our neighbours in our communities, below are the items needed the most. Thank you
